about

My first song for February Album Writing Month (FAWM) 2018! And based on a true story that happens every night.

lyrics

I toss and I turn
’Til my back isn’t protesting
Release all concerns
’Til no problems need addressing
I breathe out a sigh
And I close my eyes...
But this is when my cats decide to

…Knock over the metal food bowl
Chew an even bigger hole
Into something that makes a lot of noise
My fluffy, meowy teenage boys
Do not play with the quiet toys
DESTROY, DESTROY DESTROY

They haven’t eaten in an hour
That’s okay, they’ll have to scour
For crumbs that must be somewhere near my feet
But oh my god something just moved
“We’ll save you mom! Aren’t you amused?”

DESTROY, DESTROY, DESTROY

Rustle, rustle, clonk kerpow;
That thing won’t be working now
And I’ve run out of objects I can throw
Blindly into pitch-black darkness
POW THUD CRASH: I missed the mark
DESTROY, DESTROY, DESTROY

They give up sometime after three
And promptly flop on top of me
Where whiskers brush a patch of open skin
A fluffy tail then flicks my chin
Why do I need to sleep again?
DESTROY, DESTROY, DESTROY

Come morning I don’t have the chance
To watch the sunlight’s slow advance
Because the cats are yelling, screaming MEOW
If you do not feed us NOW
We’ll improvise with iPhone, glasses, charger, pillow, hairbrush, earbuds, string lights, finger CHOW…
DESTROY, DESTROY, DESTROY
